There is a facility in Facebook like The Graph Search of
Facebook. This search provides demographics of the people who are connected
with you on the social network. For ex: you can search with natural query language
“My friends who are older than 40” or “My female friends who live in Mumbai” and you will find the answer right there instantly.
This demographics search is not available for
Twitter users. The interesting fact is that this can be done programmatically
and can find the gender of a person on Twitter in Twitter API. Just
take the profile picture of the user and feed it in the Siftr’s Vision API and it will identify the
gender in the photograph. It even provides the approximate age of the subject
in the pic if you go a step ahead and check in Face API
The web app Meet Twitter Analyzer, helps you to
analyze your twitter followers and gives you all the details of all user inside a Google Spreadsheet. You can
know the gender, how often they tweet, when did they join the twitter and much more
details. To get started with this analyzer just browse labno.org/analyzer and
get signed in with your google account and grant permissions to analyse. You will get an confirmation after you grant
permission. Then click on “ Authorize
Twitter” to access your Twitter account.
Next you need to click the scan button and close the page. Now you will get an email with the number of
followers you have.
It is also very much useful to find whether
your followers are Human or Twitter bots
